London – Your Co-op Travel has joined a long list of companies that have stopped promoting SeaWorld, including Booking.com, Tripadvisor and United Airlines, following discussions with PETA and its affiliates.
PETA is urging all travel agents and operators to stop promoting and selling SeaWorld tickets as dolphins, including killer whales, and other marine animals suffer when they are in cramped concrete tanks.
Your Co-op Travel has confirmed that its retail outlets, website and Co-op Holidays will no longer sell tickets to SeaWorld, the world’s most famous marine park. abuseCop park and everything other parks that are home to highly intelligent cetaceans for fun.
“Your Co-op Travel has officially rejected marine mammal prisons such as SeaWorld, where sensitive, complex, long-range aquatic animals are kept in cramped reservoirs,” says PETA UK Corporate Projects Director Yvonne Taylor. “No travel company should profit from animal cruelty, and PETA encourages TUI to be still give SeaWorld the financial opportunity – to follow suit. “
In nature, killer whales, other dolphins and beluga whales lead a lifestyle that is prohibited for animals in captivity. Those who live in the ocean can maintain dynamic relationships on large social networks, choose their partners and swim freely in the vast expanses of water. After a vigorous PETA campaign, SeaWorld stopped breeding killer whales, but it still breeds beluga whales and bottlenose dolphins (sometimes forcibly, after being medicated), and all the marine mammals in its parks are still kept in small concrete tanks. PETA urges SeaWorld to end its messy breeding programs and develop coastal reserves.
Other companies that have stopped promoting SeaWorld include Virgin Holidays, British Airways Holidays, STA Travel, WestJet, JetBlue and Southwest Airlines, as well as many individual AAA clubs including Arizona; Colorado; Minneapolis; North-east; Northern California, Nevada and Utah; and Washington.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to be used for entertainment” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human superiority. For more information please visit SeaWorldOfHurt.com or subscribe to PETA on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
