Baton Rouge, Louisiana. – During the recent Lamar Advertising Annual Meeting, the company responded to PETA’s question about why it refuses to publish ads for Too Hot for Spot and Tot and other life-saving messages by explicitly stating that it will keep rejecting all PETA copies…
PETA responded by sending a letter to Lamar CEO Sean Reilly today (available here) detailing the many ways the group has acted in good faith, from adhering to Lamar’s copy acceptance policy to suggesting that PETA run all announcements with a designated person in charge.
“If Lamar runs PETA ads, it will help save the lives of dogs and children,” said PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman. “We ask the company to stop being petty and act on its own policy of supporting advertisers’ rights under the First Amendment and promoting a worthy public interest.”
