Newberry, Michigan. – Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, PETA is launching an ad in Northern express and with Ticker warns people that vulnerable cubs are suffering when forced to do photo shoots and public gatherings at Oswald’s Bear Ranch, the infamous roadside zoo, which will reopen this summer. The ads urge everyone to avoid this place at all costs.
Most of the bears Oswald has acquired over the past 20 years have been deliberately bred and stolen from their mothers, although Oswald is misleading and claims to be a “safe haven for salvation.” Cubs at Oswald’s were seen pacing, screaming and biting cages in sheer stress, and a roadside zoo was named for physically abusing a cub, allowing the cub to injure the guest and putting the children in danger by allowing them to hand feed the cubs. …
“Oswald’s Bear Ranch will stop at nothing to cash in on the back of a frightened teddy bear,” says Debbie Metzler, deputy director of animal law enforcement at PETA. “PETA asks anyone with a heart to resist this violence by cutting wildlife out of their plans this holiday weekend and every other day.”
PETA – whose motto, among other things, is that “the animals are not ours to be used for entertainment” – the records that Oswald carry were killed in horrific ways. In April 2019, a bear named Sophie was shot after escaping from the enclosure. Other bears have died from being trapped in a destroyed den or from a fatal “drug overdose”, and some have even been stabbed to death.
PETA is opposed to arrogance, a worldview of supporters of human superiority. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
