A remake of the 1996 Disney movie. 101 dalmatians sparked a buzz of Dalmatian buyers among families who fell in love with the puppies on screen. But this boom in impulse buying was soon followed by the surrender of countless Dalmatians to animal shelters. Others were thrown into the street or chained in the backyard after people realized that caring for an animal is no easy task. With Cruella Scheduled for release on May 28, PETA is trying to stave off a disastrous sequel by encouraging viewers to accept rather than shop.

There are simply not enough good homes for millions of stray dogs and cats.

There is no end to the tale for these dogs

As the novelty of a new puppy passed, many people who bought Dalmatians on a whim found that, like all animals, their new puppies took a lot of time, attention, patience, and money.

PETA Foundation employee whose father bought a Dalmatian from a breeder after graduation 101 dalmatians now shares his experience as a warning to others: “My father said that you should never buy a dog from a breeder, and that Dalmatians, in particular, are very energetic dogs that require more attention and patience than people might expect.”

PETA employee whose family bought the Dalmatian after graduation 101 dalmatians now encourages everyone to never buy from breeders, pet stores or anywhere else.

Dalmatians are not only very active dogs that need many sources of energy every day (including long walks, safe running and play opportunities), they are also prone to a number of serious health problems that can make caring for them difficult. … About 30% of these dogs are more or less deaf, and this breed is prone to developing kidney and bladder stones, which are very painful and can even kill them. Targeted breeding has made these problems more common as breeders and puppy breeders prioritize the appearance of the spotted coat of Dalmatians over their health.

Animal shelters already host over 6 million animals every year – they can’t afford another wave. “101 dalmatians syndrome ”, which led to a 300% increase in the consumption of Dalmatians in shelters across the country. When shelters are overwhelmed with such a dramatic influx of unwanted dogs, many of the animals have to be euthanized.

    Leave the cruelty to Cruella

Violence like cruelty doesn’t just exist on the big screen – puppy factories that knock down litter after litter of Dalmatians and other breeds, force dogs to live in cramped, filthy cages and cages, usually outdoors; deny them adequate veterinary care; and kill or auction bitches when they can no longer reproduce.

And every animal sold by a breeder or pet store means one less house for an animal awaiting adoption at a shelter. An estimated 70 million stray dogs and cats struggle to survive on the streets every day, so the last thing people need to do is buy “purebred” dogs (which make up 25% of dogs in shelters).

Help us prevent another flood in Dalmatia

Dogs are sensitive, living things with their own emotions and interests – they are not toys or tendencies. We hope viewers end up watching the film in an effort to help resolve the pet crisis rather than exacerbate it. One easy way to do this is renouncement buy animals from breeders, puppy factories, pet stores or somewhere else… Industries that profit from animals are no better than de Ville herself.

    Help end animal homelessness
